How To Attract Big Bucks – 3 Ways
70
Finding a big buck is a dream of all hunters, as deer avoid contact with humans and mature bucks do this with honed skills. While there may be some big bucks in the woods where you are thinking about hunting, most bucks leave for isolated places as hunting season begins.
Here are some tips to help you attract big bucks for a dream hunt. Using these methods will certainly increase your chances of finding a prized trophy.
- Make a survey of the area where you are planning to hunt. Learn about the types, nature and behavior of the bucks in that area. Make a day trip to select several points and spots that give you clear overview of the place. Start your preparation by laying deer food around the food plot. You can use corn or corn seed from nearby fields. Local pet store can provide you with deer foods. Deer also love to eat grains, and the smell of Alfalfa attracts deer from far place. Aroma of apples is highly attractive for deer from a long distance. If you can afford it, buy a bag, make small pieces and lay them over the target area. Begin this baiting over a wide area and tighten your noose slowly every week towards the desired area as the hunting season draws closer.
- Human body odor can drive away big bucks. It is necessary to descent your hunting gears and all clothing accessories that you intend to wear while hunting big bucks. Wash all your clothing and washable gears in plain water or with special soaps made for hunters that may be found in deer hunting related shops. You may add few pieces of freshly chopped apples while washing to embed the smell in your clothing. Dry the clothes preferably in an open area near your hunting ground.
- The next step is to spray pheromones on the hunting ground. Urine of deer is best thing to attract them. Some hunters spray it all over their clothing. However, it is convenient to have them on grounds. Take about 10-12 pieces of 35mm film canister. Nail them along the trees at gap of 30-50 yards. Three days prior to your hunting day put pheromones soaked cotton in the canisters to bait the big buck.
